Vintage Texcoco Rug. Blue and ivory, 49" x 75". Fringe damaged, but in otherwise good condition, woven down center of 2 parts. Mexican, from the area around Texcoco, north of Mexico City. The fringe on both ends (an extension of the warp threads) indicate it was woven on a floor loom, unlike Native American rugs, which are woven on an upright loom. The design pattern, a central diamond, with white bands on the ends, and the "S" shaped design, and the blue/white/black colors, are classic Texcoco features.
