This is a nicely framed and presented pair of items: 1) Memorandum of Bullion for the Pacific Mill & Mining Company, Morgan Mill, 1879. Deposit of 3,705 ounces made into two large bullion bars (1826 and 1755 ounces, .877 fineness silver). This document is 6.5 x 8.25". A very rare assay form. 2) A blown-up photograph of the Morgan Mill, likely the same time period as the assay document. 9.75 x 16.5" Both items, matted and framed, total dimensions 25 x 23". The Pacific Mill & Mining Company was formed by the Bonanza Kings Mackay, Fair, Flood, and O'Brien to consolidate their mining and milling interests on the Comstock after the Big Bonanza discovery. The Morgan Mill was located on the Carson River just east of Empire City. It was built in the mid 1860s to process ore from the Yellow Jacket Mine in Gold Hill.
