A batch of six splendid half-tone reproductions of an historic photo panorama of Virginia City, Nevada, in its heyday of the late 1800s looking from north on the left to south on the right. Clearly visible in the photo are several landmark buildings including the six-story International Hotel (opened 1877 and destroyed by fire in 1914), St. Paul the Prospector Episcopal Church, St. Mary in the Mountains Catholic Church, First Presbyterian Church, and the Fourth Ward School (all four existing today). Numerous operating mines including the Con-Virginia, Savage, Con-Chollar, Hale & Norcross, and others. The Virginia City Cemetary is visible in the mid distance on the north side of town, and Sugarloaf Peak is prominent in the center distance. Also visible are sections of the famous water sluice that brought fresh water from the Sierra Nevada Mountains to Gold Hill and Virginia City by way of an inverted siphon system. The photographer is probably standing on a covered section of that sluice. Lower left corner credits C. Worbruck, San Francisco. The prints are 6-1/4 x 34-5/8 inches including the 1/4-inch white border. Two of the prints are dogeared in the top right corners, but the other four are in excellent condition. These prints reproduce a tear on the left end that was part of the original photograph. These would be beautiful framed and displayed in any office, home, or business.
