Punch cancels thru Mahone's signature and cut cancel on the left side. The Virginia and Tennessee Railroad played an important role in supplying the Confederacy during the Civil War. Food and troops were moved from the capital of Richmond to the interior at Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Union took control of the railroad in 1864. Mahone took over after the Civil War.
