This is an amazing piece of Nevada railroad and Chinese history. It is an 1878 payroll for the month of May for the Chinese working out of Chinese Camp #2. It is for $269.50 or for monthly pay for 11 Chinese laborers. To the Ah Jack Company. Ah Jack frequently supplied Chinese labor to Henry Yerington companies. He also served as an interpreter for Yerington. Initialed by Henry M Yerington in red. AO Packard was the foreman and signed the payroll. The 1880 census lists him as a 'roadbed and track layer'. Huffaker's Camp was just outside of Reno (inside the city boundaries today) and was the confluence of 6 or 7 logging flumes and the V&T Railroad. Many more notes are included!
