Lot of 4. The Gold Hill Assay office was founded by Conrad Wiegand, passed onto Samuel Dowling, then back to Wiegand's son, and then sold to W.S. James. 1) Memorandum of Ore Assay. Deposit by the Overman Mining Company. Dec. 1885. Two assays with pencil notes about the locations (hanging wall). Signed by James. 5.5 x 8.5" Folds, toning. 2) 1888 letterhead addressed to TR Hofer in Carson. Message about checks for the Centennial Company. Signed by James. 3-4) Two typed lettersheets, 1900, both to WS Hathaway in Banning, California. Message regarding water stocks.
