Lot of 10 documents. These are handwritten receipts and one billhead, all from Petaluma in 1857. FH believes this WS Wright to be the same that made his way to the Comstock. William S. Wright started the first soda works in Nevada. He is also the first verifiable Nevada merchant to place a product in personalized embossed bottles. He came to Virginia City in 1861. In July 1863, Wright placed an order for 24,000 soda bottles with the new western glass manufacturing plant in San Francisco, Pacific Glass Works. The order was so important that the news was published in both Sacramento and San Francisco newspapers. Wright operated his soda business at the north end of Virginia City. He closed or sold this business in 1867, perhaps selling to George Morrill. After unsuccessfully trying to run a stage line to Meadow Lake, Wright returned to Virginia City and opened a cigar business.
