1945 letter on 242nd Infantry Regiment letterhead of Office of the Commanding Officer, who was Colonel Norman C. Caum. This letter is illegibly signed, perhaps it is from Caum? This regiment fought the Germans and was later assigned to the occupation of Austria. Details of bad Spam and cold lima beans, being awarded the Legion of Merit, a disdain for Europe and being homesick for California etc. Verso caricature of Caum as Uncle Sam in red and blue with Montana sombrero, with a Sun Kist orange and thumbs down on Europe.
