Five pieces of ephemera signed by WWI Aces. The collection includes a German cover, c1977, with colorful illustrations including of a dog fight and Manfred, Freiherr von Richthofen (Red Baron), signed by five men in Richthofen's squadron- Alois Heldmann, 15V, Wilhelm Gross, 7V, Carl august von Schoenebeck, 8V, Hans-George wonder Osten, 5V. General Karl Bodenschatz who was von Richthofen's adjutant in WWI and Goring's adjutant in WWII has also signed this cover. Total of 35 WWI victories. Copy #21 of a limited edition of 80. Cover approx. 6.5" x 4.5" and has 4" x 4.75" B&W photo of Richthofen and his Squadron inside. Also included: A signed card by "Frank K. Hayes/13th Sqdn WWI," Ace with six confirmed victories, 3" x 5", boldly signed; Check signed by Eddie Rickenbacker, partly printed bank check drawn on Chemical Bank New York Trust Company payable to greenbrier Hotel in the amount of $99.60. Signed by Edward V. Rickenbacker (1890-1973), aviator, leading U.S. air ace during WWI. During the war he shot down 22 enemy planes and four balloons. In 1938 he became president of Eastern Air Lines, a position he held until 1959. Stamp canceled. Also: a choice Ace of Spades playing card signed by Arthur Ray Brooks, 139th & 22nd Squadron 2nd Pursuit Group/AEF France, "Ray Brooks/1983/88 yrs of age/WWI 6 Victories"; Composite photo of over a dozen German Aces, including the Red Baron, signed by Karl von Schoenebeck, credited with eight victories, some damage to face of photograph; bank check signed by Thomas Caithcart Traill, British WWI Ace who shot down eight airplanes and went on to serve as Air Vice-Marshal, made out to and signed on the back by his fellow pioneer aviator Thomas Whitchelo, R.A.F.
