A series of letters written to WWI combat soldier Private Harry Frances Smith of the American Expeditionary Force from, in most cases, his mother, Frances Mozart. The letters follow a progression of duty stations, starting in basic training and culminating in his going to France, where he meets the girl he would eventually marry. there are also letters from a few friends (Some military) and from his sister, Ethel. All the letters are very readable and a nice look into the time of the "Great War." [ New Haven Connecticut
