This is a set of fifteen one-troy-ounce silver coins in plastic capsules that commemorates historic aircraft of World War II from the United States, England, Germany, and Japan. These are the same coin designs that appear in Lot 77101, however this set includes a slightly different selection of aircraft.

The designs in this collection of fifteen coins each commemorate a different aircraft and include the following:

A6M2 ZERO
B-17F (different obverse style than the other 14 coins)
B-24 LIBERATOR
B-25 MITCHELL
B-26 MARAUDER
C-47 TRANSPORT (2 pieces)
F4U CORSAIR
F6F HELLCAT
ME-109 FIGHTER "Messerschmitt"
P-38 LIGHTNING
P-40 WARHAWK "Flying Tigers"
P-47 THUNDERBOLT "Jug"
P-51 MUSTANG "Red Nose"
SPITFIRE

The obverse designs of the airplanes have all been selectively plated in 24-carat gold against a proof-like mirror finish in the background. Each coin is in mint condition and appear to have never been removed from the encapsulation. One of the C-47 coins is slightly cloudy. The reverse of all fifteen coins has a selectively gold-plated flying eagle against a gold-plated five-pointed star which has radiating rays of light again a proof-like mirror finish background. The rim of the reverse has the words, "ONE TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER" with six small stars separating the phrase

The collection is housed in a 10.5x9-inch maroon leatherette-style hinged box with two brass latches and two brass hinges. There is a minor abrasion damage to the material on the right edge of the outside cover. The interior lid is covered in an ivory satin material with the gold-embossed branding logo of the collection. The inside cover and the interior red velvet that houses the 15 encapsulated coins are in excellent condition. This comes from the liquidation of Northwest Territorial Mint.
