A set of approximately forty-five 4-1/2 x 3-1/2 inch black and white photographs, most of which have descriptive titles for the scene. These were either taken by a US Army photographer (as some are labeled "US Army Photo" along the bottom edge) or by an infantry soldier (as others are hand labeled with a fountain pen). Images run the gamut of the cruelties of war including casualties, locations, battles, and "innocent victims." Also included is a small paperbound, 31-page booklet, "Memo on the Marianas" self-described as "a sketch description and basic orientation for garrison and defense forces in the MARIANAS Islands." The book includes maps, descriptive text, and a language guide for the local Chamorro people. Chapter titles are History, Weather, People, Economy, Health, Languages, and Chamorro Vocabulary. Published by the Joint Intelligence Center Pacific Ocean Area (JICPOA). State: City: Guam Date: WWII
