This "Bowie" hunting knife was made by "Wade & /Butcher/ Sheffield/ England" and marketed by Herder of Philadelphia. Wade and Butcher had a long history together and this knife was likely a product of the 1920's American hunting market. Marketed then through "Herder/ Phila. PA" on the ricasso. It is faintly marked "Bowie" model on the left side blade. The blade is a clip point bowie with a false edge on top, a German silver guard, jigged scales set in with three pins on a full tang. The sheath is marked "HERDER/ PHILA." and stamped inside the sheath is "made in/ Sheffield England". In very good condition. c. 1890's-1920's. 10 in. overall length, 5.75 in. clip point blade, 4 in. jigged scales. Please see photos for details.
