A stock certificate for 200 shares in the Weaverville & Shasta Wagon Road Company, made out to Orson Fox. The certificate is dated November 8th, 1859. The Weaverville & Shasta Wagon Road Company was founded in 1857 by William S. Lowden, a Weaverville resident, after being awarded the contract for the project of establishing a wagon road between these two towns. The certificate bears the signatures of the president (Lowden) and secretary of the company, as well as an intricate engraved vignette picturing a wagon travelling on the road. It is in very good condition, with a few minor ink stains.
