WM Walker & Co. / Denver / One Quart / "You. Bet" Applied top, exceptionally rare. Unlisted in Barnett. W75 Prebble. 1885-1886. Dark red amber quart, about 12 1/8" tall. Exterior stain in the back and up the left side of the neck, easily polishable but has never been touched. Prebble shows Walker and Eaton in the liquor business on Larmiar St in Denver from 1869-1873. Walker apparently died in 1873 but Eaton continued the same name of the company through about 1886. This may also be one of the earliest embossed whiskey bottles. On an interesting note there are several Wm S Walkers in the United States during this period, the most famous of which was a confederate General out of Florida who was shot in the leg in battle, which was later amputated causing him to use a wooden leg. It is unknown if this was the same Wm S. Walker. Ron Reed collection
