Original gilt cloth. Head and toe of spine frayed and bit chipped. Somewhat sunned, especially the spine. Contents a bit shaken. Internally very good. This directory, here in its first year of publication, is an extremely detailed compendium of information and statistics on virtually every aspect of the territory, covering its history, geography and geology, natural resources, etc. ìThis Directory gives useful information on the early territorial history of Colorado, including the various conventions and forms of government in the early days, railroads, colonization, and early mining ñ Streeter. The sections on mining, pp. 151-247 is quite detailed with a description of the mines in Gilpin, Clear Creek, Boulder, Summit and Lake counties, all arranged alphabetically. A section on the Character, Treatment and value of Ores is quite detailed and includes a description of the stamp mills in Gilpin County. The volume also includes an accurate directory as well as History for Denver, Golden City, Black Hawk, Central City, Nevada, Idaho, Georgetown, Boulder, Greeley, Colorado City, Pueblo, Trinidad, etc. A more useful and comprehensive guide to pre-statehood Colorado would be difficult to find.
