2 pieces from Washington, Cal. This small Nevada County town dates to 1849, and was originally called Indiana Camp. Located on the South Yuba River. The supt. Report from the Washington Gold Mining Co. is for the week ending Aug. 5, 1882. Lists wages of $42 for the Engineer and $17.50 for shovelers. At bottom, it lists contract work of 4 men at work running a drift on the ledge in the 250' north level at $9 per foot and furnishes there our powder, fuses and candles. Signed at the bottom by Wm Fernan and notarized by the Nevada County notary public. The unissued stock certificate is from Washington Mining Company 18XX. This co. incorporated in 1873.
