Aqua, quart size, mint condition. G.I-42 . "It is interesting to note that the legend 'The Father of His Country' appears in connection with Washington's portrait only on flasks produced at the Dyottville Glassworks, Philadelphia, beginning with the candidacy of Zachary Taylor for president. It may be a reflection of the growth of hero worship that on the earlier flasks Washington's military prowess is emphasized by depicting him in uniform whereas by the 1840's it is Washington The Statesman, elevated to the Hall of Fame as the 'Father of His Country,' and appropriately represented by a classical bust." [From "American Glass" by George S. and Helen McKearin] The Jackson side of the flask depicts him in military uniform and lettering: "A little more grape Captain Bragg." These bottles come in amethyst, green, aqua and yellow-green.
