Lot of 9 newspapers published from various towns in the Washington Territory during the 1880s. Included are the Walla Walla Statesman (1875 & 1885), the Washington Independent (Pomeroy, Columbia County (1881) then Garfield County (1885)), Columbia Chronicle (Dayton, Columbia County), and the East Washingtonian (Pomeroy, Garfield County (1885)). The three oldest newspapers (1875 and 1881) are torn up and crumbling from edges. Note: Washington joined the Union as the 42nd state in 1889.
