Washoe Tray, made by Rema John of Woodfords, Ca., with photo of her with the tray she made in 1970. Picture was taken July 20, 1986. Beautiful condition. 9.50" diam. (plate size) The basic design is a Washoe wrap start, 1 stick, gap stitch design with a fern root decoration on willow. Appears to be unused. Rema John was full blooded Washoe. This is a spectacular piece of true native Great Basin basketry. Attributed to ND.
