Here is a very beautiful, and unusual Item. It is a very early combination of , watercolor, pen and ink picture inset with silk border. I call her "The Gracious Lady " ( I made that name up !). It depicts a very nice Chinese lady who walks graciously. It is 55" high x 26" wide, with a dark frame. Carved on the frame, at the top are 3 flying bats and two bats at the bottom !! These bats represent : " Wu Fu", which symbolizes long life, wealth, health, love of virtue, and a peaceful death. At the base is a brass plaque that reads: In Appreciation/ " The School Of Nursing" / National Defense Medical Center/ Taiwan, China...1937. Perfect condition. If you get this item, you may also have the 5 blessings of " WUFU". ( RH).
