Watercolor painting of an African-American woman plucking a chicken in front of a farmhouse entrance with climbing yellow flowers. Signature is A. Northrup '07. Anne Northrup is a grandmother of Fred Northrup Holabird, and the piece is thought to have been painted in Missouri before that generation moved west to California. There is a half-inch tear in the middle of the bottom edge, and tape marks on the back suggest it had been mounted in a frame at some time. Dimensions are 8 x 10-3/4 inches.
