Incorp. 1871 Republic of Ireland. Uncanceled #708 for 10 shares @ 10 Lbs ea. to William Butler of July 14, 1876, signed by Directors and Sec. Purple border, no vignette. Company Title top of stock w/ "Certificate of Five Percent Guaranteed Preferred Shares of 10 lbs each". Company logo left margin, embossed corp. seal lower left. Line running from Waterford to Cork City and built in stages starting in 1860 by Great Southern and Western Railway (GS&WR) and opening more rail until 1872. Waterford, Dungarvan and Lismore railway incorp. 187, backed by the Duke of Devonshire, building 43 miles of rail and opening 1878. It was the longest and most difficult route of any Waterford Railways. Operating until it was taken over by GS&WR in 1898 and closed in 1967. Significant railroad history in Ireland. Rare in uncanceled. No tears or stains there are fold lines, paper is crisp. Staple hole appears in top left. EF-VF cond. Ireland Ken Prag Collection
