The Reno Gazette Journal reported in October of 190, that J. L. Wedekind, son of George Wedekind who had passed away recently, was on his way to check out his mining claims in the Ruby Valley. The paper reported that the claims, known as the Bonanza claims, showed great promise. “Some Tonopah and Montana people own property near Ruby Mountain, but aside from these Mr. Wedekind is the only mine owner in that district.” The Reno paper says the mines are in a defunct mining district. The letter names the district as the Bald Mountain Mining District. City:Ruby Mountains State:Nevada Date:1907
