Lot of (2). Wells-Fargo & Co. notes, from both W-F Bank and W-F Express & Exchange companies. Both originated in the gold town of Columbia. The earlier note, from 1866, was signed on July 4, 1866, in the amount of $1500 dollars in Gold Bullion (see reverse side). The later note, from 1876, is a receipt for a"Bar" (assume a gold bar) as received by the W-F treasurer. Both notes are in very good to excellent condition, with evidence of some folds and a minor hole (see photos). Beautiful California Gold Rush history.
