Very rare handbill by Wells Fargo extolling the theft of Wells Fargo monies used by several WF agents to gamble on mining stocks. Louis McLane, the head of WF operations in the West, writes that four WF agents were caught gambling with WF monies, headed by Peter Hadley, agent at Gold Hill "in the vain hope of making sudden fortunes." McLane lays down the law in this very private circular to WF employees. Very rare, and exceptionally important. This aspect of the express business has not been thoroughly investigated nor publicized.
