Received of Hardy & Kennedy Gold Bar package value six thousand dollars. Dated 1858 Forest Hill. Light blue paper, 8 x 5 1/2 inches; lithography by Whitton, Towne Co.'s Print San Francisco. Late in 1856 William H. Hardy and Samuel S. Kennedy moved their general provisions business from Big Bar to Forest Hill, and two years later built the town's first fireproof building.
