A group of six covers from Wells, Fargo & Co's Express. Three addressed to Mr. Farwell, Esq., Niles, Calif.; of them two cancelled San Jose (CAL.) Depot, c1890-91. Four different unused. Niles, Calif., "America's First Hollywood," is where in 1914 Charlie Chaplin set up residence to film three new movies at fellow movie star Gilbert M. ìBronco Billyî Andersonís, new studio. Anderson was a partner in the Chicago-based Essanay Film Manufacturing Company. The studio, The Edison Theater, was only the second film studio operating in California at the time.
