Full page signatory note of money pledged for a Christmas present for Pastor Reverend A. P. Merrill, datelined "Hancock" (no state given). S. H. Whitacre was the first signer, and may have been a WF agent, hence the use of this paper. Twenty two people pledged a total of about $20 for the present. A. P. Merrill was a BAptist pastor. He was the first pastor in Port Crane, New York in 1860. We were unable to follow him for a fewe decades. In 1931, another pastor of the same name went on a Christian mission to India, part of the "Assam Mission."
