Murphy Co, Red Oak, IO, "Birthplace of the Art Calendar Industry", Jan. 1960 only, features Postal Pioneers illustration of Pony Express rider, 100th Anniversary Pony Express 1860 - 1960 ; (3) Valley Mercantile Co, Hamilton, MT, Jan. 1912 only, features painting of horses by Carl Kahler titled 128 Late for Supper; (4) Valley Mercantile Co, Hamilton, MT, Jan. 1920 only, features painting of young girl w/grandmother titled 1040 The Knitting Lesson, no artist mentioned; (5 - 8) duplicates, J.F. Gies & Co Wholesale Grocers, Great Falls, MT, Jan. 1922 only, features painting by HJ Dobson RSW of young girl w/grandmother titled The Apple of Her Eye. Note: all calendar art copyrighted by the Thomas D. Murphy Company of Red Oak, Iowa. Murphy, along with a partner, started the company in 1888 and became the nation's premier calendar art company for over 100 years. Today, the company's original power plant building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
