Collection also includes 2 WPRR $1000 bonds issued 1945, 1 WPRR $100 bond w/issued date blacked out, 1 Helena (MT) Electric RW Co stock cert unissued but dated 189_, 2 Gallatin (Bozeman, MT) Light, Power & RW Co unissued stock certs dated 189_, 1 Shoshoni (WY) Power & Irrigation Co $500 bond w/coupons attached issued 1912, and 1 Sierra Railroad Co $1000 bond issued 1936. All issued items cancelled. Condition: no tears, all in excellent condition. Note: Western Pacific Railroad Company was formed in 1903 as an attempt to break the near-monopoly the Southern Pacific Railroad had on rail service into northern California. WP's Feather River Route (through Portola, CA) directly competed with SP's portion of the Overland Route for rail traffic between Salt Lake City/Ogden, Utah, and Oakland, California, for nearly 80 years. The Western Pacific was one of the original operators of the California Zephyr passenger line. In 1982, the Western Pacific was acquired by the Union Pacific Corporation and it was soon merged into their Union Pacific Railroad (from Wikipedia).
