Originally founded in the late 1920's by Clement Wade ,Ulysses A. Sanabria (tech inventor) and several others formed Western Television. They produced a mechanical TV set and operated on a specialized license broadcasting shows, which required an "X" in the call sign i.e; W2XBS New York. Several stations operated in Chicago W9XAP, New York W2XAB and Boston W1XAV. The signals from Sanabria's 45 line transmission could b picked up 100's of mile away. At the time these sets were cost prohibitive for the average person and were usually in restaurants and bars. with three hours of programming you could see comedies, dramas and on Saturday's a football game. The heyday was short lived as the electronic TV was just in the not too distant future. [Delaware] [Ken Prag Collection]
