A matched pair of white ceramic coffee mugs recovered by the project in 1987 from Site 87, not the S.S. Central America shipwreck. Each is 3.25 inches tall and 3.75 inches in diameter at the base. A leaf-and-berries pattern is molded into the ceramic on both sides of the handle and the handle itself. A prominent, vertical mold mark is visible on the side opposite the handle. The upper rim, the lower foot, and the handles have some wear abrasion, and the glaze has some light crazing in places. Overall, these appear to be sturdy and as usable as they were on the ill-fated voyage.

Provenance: SS Central America Collection
