All original 3-piece cutlery set, in original case by Will & Finck of San Francisco. Set includes carving knife, service fork, and honing steel. Fork and steel both have the triple-wire standoffs to keep from contacting the tablecloth. Knife measures 15.25" long, fork is 11.5", steel is 14.25". All three have polished horn handles with engraved shield design. Silver hilts are engraved. Case is velvet lined, clasp-closure. The diagonal label across the bottom indicates "The Leading Cutlers No. 769 Market Street." This address approximates 1890. Will & Finck began in 1864 as surgical instrument makers, as well as locksmiths, and bell hangers. They branched into carving and bowie knives. Their stores closed in 1932. All pieces are in excellent condition, age-wear being the only issues. Knife handle shows small crack. Incredible piece of history. [
