Large Framed Original Oil Painting on recycled board by William Forrest Martin. Street scene with four pigeons taking flight. Pastel shades of colors favorited by Martin, dominate here, but attention is directed by reserving the darker, more intense colors of blue and green for the birds and trees alone, the only visible signs of life on the abandoned city street. Not a single human being exists, in stark contrast to the power lines, light post and concrete sidewalks overcrowded with buildings that dwarf one remaining little house suffocated by the ugly retail storefronts stacked all around it. All the obvious signs of human over development are portrayed, but the responsible parties are nowhere to be found. The only evidence of human existence separate from the business industry and store fronts occupying every square foot of space as far down the road as the eye can see, is the little house where the trees still grow and the birds are determined to visit. Unsigned, 32.5" x 48.5". (Sweetwater Trust)
