Gorgeous, early uncancelled lumber certificate! No. 101, issued for 10 shares to Andrew Cochran on Dec. 4th, 1839 in Philadelphia. Signed by president William Perry and secretary John D. Beers. Not cancelled. PS Duval Litho, Philadelphia. Black border and print, many vignettes: Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, an early locomotive, and multiple of lumber mill machinery and ships! Pinholes, creases, light wear. 7 x 9.25" Perry is listed on the certificate as a trustee, and this company was incorporated in 1839 with Andrew Cochran also involved. Richard Cochran (his brother?) later sued Perry, Cochran, and the company. The company "were the owners of a large body of unseated land in Lycoming county , containing 7302 acres 48 perches," according to Pennsylvania State Reports.
