Location: Yuba Co., Cal. (printed under title). No. 101, issued for 500 shares to E.W. Tucker on July 1st, 1881 in Jersey City, N.J. Signed by president Alfred Nickerson and the treasurer. Not cancelled. Black border and print, no vignette. Folds. Willow Creek, at just over 3,000 feet elevation, joins the north fork of the Yuba River at Bullards Bar. In June, 1849, a Dr. Bullard of Brooklyn, N.Y. and three partners dammed up the river and netted $15,000 of gold in two months (Gudde). The Willow Creek Gold Mining Company was likely a hydraulic mining operation. In 1908, there was a small revival of hydraulic mining, including at Willow Creek and the Depot Hill mine (E.M.J. Dec. 5, 1908). Ken Prag Collection
