Number 33 for 1,500 shares to William Power Wilson. Signed by secretary Arthur S Lovett and president William M Ebner. Datelined 1987, Juneau. Incorporated in Oregon. An unusual, but extremely nice, map vignette of the area just south of Juneau. Also a vignette of Juneau, Alaska. Gold seal. Great looking piece. Printed by Lowman Hanford of Seattle. Two heavy vertical folds with edge issues. Includes one 1 inch tear. Some pencil writing on border. This is it! The very place and year the rush to Alaska and the Yukon started. The earliest gold production in Alaska occurred in Windham Bay and Sumdum Bay in 1870-71 subsequent to an 1869 gold placer deposit discovery at the two locations. The Windham Bay Gold Mining Company was located .75 miles from the bay, on the south slopes of Spruce Creek. It consisted of nine claims. In 1906 it was reported as the only mine which had been productive over the last decade. Prag Collection City: Windham Bay State: Alaska Date: 1897 HWAC# 78612
