Great Collectible Stock from the Motion Picture/Film Industry! Wings Over San Antonio, Inc. Stock Certificate No. 174 for 12 Shares. Issued to Mrs. Lizzie Morrissey, Datelined October 5th, 1936. Signed by W. F. Traxler, Secretary and George S. McElroy, President. Vignette of "Spirit of St. Louis" airplane in center. Embossed seal. Printed by GOES572. Beautiful ornate dark green border with black print and light green safety print. Printed on Reverse with Certificate fold cover and transfer information. Not cancelled or transferred. Very fine to Extremely Fine condition. After the Wright Brothers hit the skies, the United States Army sent Lieutenant Foulois to Fort Sam Houston near San Antonio, with a small contingent of enlisted men, on a mission learn how to fly a used Wright Brothers plane. The history of early U.S. aeronautics is illustrated by Mel Brown in his book, "Wings Over San Antonio". Brown's images tell the story of how San Antonio eventually became the cradle of military aviation when the legend of the U.S. Air Force was born. The company, Wings Over San Antonio, Inc. planned a screenplay of the same name, according to various online sources, but never produced the film, which was intended to include the Lindbergh aviation story. Warner Bros. eventually produced "The Spirit of St. Louis" two decades later, which was written in association with the Lindbergh Foundation & the Hall Aviation Foundation. This stock is issued to "Lizzie" Morrissey. Actress Betty Morrissey was born Elizabeth Morrissey in 1907 in Brooklyn, New York. known for A Woman of Paris: A Drama of Fate (1923), Lady of the Night (1925) and Honor Among Lovers (1931). She died on April 20, 1944. More research may confirm the early film actress is the same as the "Lizzy" named on this highly collectible early film industry piece.
