This is a cache of three wooden nickels as flats. One each 1, 2, and 5 nickel notes. These were all printed by John Rogers Producing Co. in conjunction with the 400th Anniversary of the discovery of the Mississippi River by DeSoto and the 13th annual Cotton Festival in Clarksdale, all dated for 1940. Rogers would produce a stage play centered around the theme of the community and the locals would supply the talent. Each nickel note has an Indian and buffalo in the far corners with an image of discoverer DeSoto in the left-center. Condition is very good.
