Spectacular light to medium Amber, gem mint example of the Wormser barrel. Surprisingly, this exceptionally rare bottle is not listed in Ring’s, “For Bitters Only.” This example is from an exceptionally well known collection, who would like to remain anonymous. The Wormser Brothers business got it start in San Francisco in 1850, coming to the Gold Rush from Germany. Two brothers joined the business in 1856. The firms early address was on the corner of California and Front Street in San Francisco, listed as importers and jobbers of wine and liquor. Their business in Germany continued during this period. The company patented a number of brands of whiskey and other liquors. The firm sold in 1872 and continued business through the 1880s under different ownership. Their whiskey division produced at least two different whiskey flasks in San Francisco with the Wormser Brothers names. This barrel bitters bearing one of San Francisco's most famous with the whiskey manufacturer's names is a prize for any collection. State:California City:San Francisco Date: ID#46408
