Inc. 1878. No. 198, issued for 50 shares to Francis Newbold in Philadelphia in 1878. Signed by the vice president and secretary. Not cancelled. Folds. Silver was first discovered in the area in 1865, causing the founding of the camp of Tempiute in Lincoln County in 1868. The settlement had a population of fifty miners by 1870. When the stamp mill in nearby Crescent was shut down in 1871, mining in Tempiute was temporarily abandoned, only to be resumed several years later. A post office named Tem Piute opened in February 1879 until January 1881 and then again from June, 1882 until January, 1883. The town was again abandoned until Tungsten was discovered nearby in 1916. The mining camp was reestablished when a New York-based tungsten importer and trading company incorporated the entire mining district. From 1950 to 1956, Tempiute had a population of 700, and a school. The post office was again opened in February 1953 and closed in October 1957.
