The Yellow Jacket Silver Mining Company ñ Gold Hill, N.T. Early certificate No.1343 issued to William Sharon for one share and signed by him on the back Sharon was the important banker for the Bank of California who had just arrived to set up a branch bank. Datelined Gold Hill, NV March 23, 1865, signed by secretary and president (both illegible). The mine, One of the great producers on the Comstock lode lies just North of the Kentuck, which separates it from the Crown Point and south of the Challenge which lies between it and the Imperial consolidated. Incorporated February 17, 1863, and capitalized at $1,200,000; 1200 shares at $1000 per. A 25-cent Power of Attorney stamp at left. Purchasing shares in Comstock was a routine activity for Sharon, who learned quickly that this was a method from which he could gain important information about the mines and the financial health of the mining business. The Bank of California later took mine stock as collateral on loans and owned or controlled most of the mining and milling on the Comstock years later. This very fine certificate is in unusually fine condition and is an important autograph piece for western mine financier collectors. [ Gold Hill Nevada 1865
