Yellowstone National Park Concessions Badge, c1915. "C & K / Y. N. P." on white metal shield, 1 3/4 x 2", "Patrick" maker's mark on back, pin intact, heavy wear obverse. This mark is 1893-1930 (Kappan).
We were unable to find the "smoking gun" for the initials "C & K" with respect to either Yosemite or Yellowstone national parks. Since this badge has been in Montana for years, we suspect that is closer to its origin. Unfortunately, the Park Service, and other historical references do not list specific concessionaires at the parks. In both parks, there were multiple concessions awarded, all for different purposes. One might be a touring company, another the hotelier, railroad access, another the stores, and so forth. Some of the specific concessionaires advertised in local newspapers, but not many.
Of note, the Old Faithful Inn (Yellowstone) concession recreated the Inn at the 1915 PPIE.
Also of note, a classy hat (derby), known as the "C & K" were sold all over America in the teens, including up in Montana.
