Circa 1880s, a leather album of 20 views of the wonders of Yellowstone National Park. Excellent condition, bound with red ribbons. 10 x 7 inches. Frank Jay Haynes was Yellowstone's official park photographer from 1884-1921. His photographs were widely published in articles, books and made into souvenir postcards in the late 19th and early 20th century. In 1885 he bought a train car from the Northern Pacific Railroad and turned it into a photo studio; he became official photographer for the Northern Pacific Railway. After his death, a peak in the Madison Canyon area of the park was named after him. His son, Jack Ellis Haynes, (1884–1962) inherited his business in Yellowstone in 1916 and continued as official park photographer until his death in 1962.
