No. 169, issued for 1907 to M.F. Van Horn (Pennsylvania Railroad). Signed by E.P. Washburn. Printed on yellow brown cardstock. Minimal wear. Beginning in 1877, this company gave stagecoach tours to the Mariposa Grove in what would become Yosemite National Park. They were the first organized stageline into Yosemite, owned by the Washburn brothers, and operated from Merced to Wawona via Mariposa. They had two stage schedules and 700 horses. The Wawona Hotel was used as an overnight stop for stage passengers. Stages used four horses and carried 6-8 passengers. When the Yosemite Valley Railroad was built in 1906, stage service stopped from Merced and shifted to being between Wawona, the Big Trees, and Yosemite Valley.
