Beautiful pot, 6.5" h x 7.5" diameter. Excelent condition, Elizabeth Medina is widely considered to be the most skilled potter working in Zia Pueblo today. Her pots feature incredible craftsmanship, elegance of form, and exquisitely painted designs, all of which reflect Zia traditions.

Elizabeth Pino Medina was born Elizabeth Toya at Jemez Pueblo in 1956, daughter of Mary S. Tafoya and sister of Bertina Tosa. She grew up in a family of potters and learned the Jemez way of making pottery, then she married Marcellus Medina in 1978 and moved to his home at Zia Pueblo. The Zia Elders gave her permission to make pottery in the Zia style and her mother-in-law, Sofia Medina, taught her the proper methods for doing that. She often works with her husband, Marcellus.

Since the early 1980's, Elizabeth has won awards at Santa Fe Indian Market, Eight Northern Pueblos Arts & Crafts Show, the New Mexico State Fair and the Colorado Indian Market in Denver.
