This is a pair of Mameluke swords; one 33 in. OAL, and the other 33 ½ in OAL. The 33 in. sword has double fullers, and both swords have cast metal grips and round pommel rings. The word mameluke means property or slave. The Mameluke were Egyptian Turks during the Ottoman empire and their descendants ruled Syria from (1260-1516) and Egypt from (1250-1517). This sword design is well received and later copied by the French Napoleon army, British generals, and the U.S. Marine Corp. Condition on both are good to excellent. Date: City: State: HWAC# 75618
