Established in 1874 at Damon's Landing, on the San Leandro Creek, at an outlay of about one hundred thousand dollars. The broadside advertises the incorporation of the company capitalized at $5,000,000; 50,000 shares at $100 per. The company proclaims new processes for "rebellious ores" with works capable of smelting 50 tons of ore daily and roasting and refining 15 tons daily. Mr. Kohler's New Patent in concentrators can "be taken to the mines and worked by one-horse power, reducing ten tons to one, thus saving 9-10ths in freight of rebellious ores." The brochure continues to give details of the machinery and facilities and notes that there is still available in the company’s San Francisco office 3000 shares now at $20 per.
