Rare mining deed between James Anderson, William T. Barboun, Philip W. Keyes (who purchased the claim from Sandy Bowers and James Rodgers) and the Savage Mining Co. for the 600 foot claims known as Bowers and Rogers for $500. Stamps cut out. 8.5 x14" Lemuel Sanford (Sandy) Bowers was one of the townís early arrivals in 1857 first running a boarding house further south in Gold Canyon for the placer miners. He purchased a number of claims but the most profitable was a ten foot strip being part of the Little Gold Hill Mines. On August 9, 1859, Eilley Orrum and Sandy Bowers joined their mining claims and married in Gold Hill. One of the richest mines in bothSilver and Gold, the couple built a mansion in Washoe, now a museum. Virginia City Nevada
